Question:
If you are at your surgeon's goal weigh and have stopped losing...
Can you still lose more? I'm 20 months post op and at my surgeon's goal weight, but would like to lose about ten more pounds. I haven't lost any in the past 6 months or so, mostly because I haven't TRIED, like using the pouch rules, but I'm ready to now - is it possible to lose down some more? If anyone has, what did you do? Thanks! — michelle T. (posted on November 22, 2003)

It is always possible. How much you lose is directly related to how much
you try. Same as pre-op. You weigh much less now so it will take longer
for the weight to come off and be more difficult. But it is possible. You
have been given this tool to use for life....it's just a matter of using
it. Give it a try and see what happens, even if you don't lose the 10
lbs....wow!!! look what you have done so far. Becky 10/01 265/135

Hi Michele, you are saying what so many of us think about ourselves, but
never admit. I think most of us are food addicts or we wouldn't be in our
situations. We are come with different pass etc, but when it comes down to
food for some reasons that it what we use as drug of choice. I have fought
this battle for 60 years till I had the wls oct 01 started at 278, now
right around 150-153 5 5 1/2 It is a choice every single day, sometimes
every minute. One thing that helped me was when I heard someone say don't
keep things in the house that hurt you, I don't have any children at home,
but a husband that loves sweets. I buy him granola bars, sf pies etc which
I don't thankfully care for, but I can't have crackers, cheese its, chips
carbs like that in the house or I could eat a whole box of them at a time.
I even was going to bed with a box of crackers or other carbs telling
myself that's ok I haven't ate that much today, and my husband who hardly
notices anything about my eating said are you sneaking food in the bedroom?
Wow, did that wake me up, I gave away all my carbs to work, and try and
keep fruits, protein drinks, and low carb bars on hand. I know we will
never have it made as some folks who don't battle this problem, but we can
just work it day by day, and never give up, try on those clothes everyday
till they get looser. I even hang a smaller size up in my room for
encourgement. I never want to go back, thin does feel good, and when our
clothes, not just the scale tell us we had better do a reality check, hope
this helps, thank you for being so honest, and saying what I couldn't say
out loud before, God Bless you, and have a wonderful cruise, you are a
beautiful girl, Suzie
