This subject comes up several times a day on the message board. the truth
is that while there are some people that don't lose hair, most of us do. I
am nine months out and mine is still falling out and I am doing all the
right things. my hair is already fine and thin and i have a bald spot in
the side of my hair. The good news is that eventually it does stop and
comes back in. I don't know of anyone that is bald but it is scary. hang
in there.

Hi Lena... yes dear, I lost hair just like you're describing. I took all
the suppliments (biotin, hair vits, fish oil) used expensive shampoo like
nioxin and NOTHING helped! I lost hair from 3.5 months till now (6.5
months) but it's slowed down a lot and has started to fill in again in the
places I lost it before. Some of my friends are noticing it's a darker,
richer color too and it looks really healthy compared to before. It does
stop and it does grow back. Do everything YOU can do (high protien,
suppliments, good shampoo) to stay healthy and your hair will be fine. I
know some women that i can see their scalp and it scared the heck out of me
too but it didn't happen that way for me. God bless!

I lost hair twice. the first time was almost bald on top, but by the time I
noticed it, My new hair growth was there. It looked like a crew cut on
top. That was 3 months out to 6 months out. I didn't have enough nutrition
being metabalized. Then I lost it again at 11 months out. I had started
back to work, couldn't eat enough. Got Too Skinny!!
That was almost 3 years ago. I've gained 30#, and have long hair half way
down my back --

My dietician told me it is perfectly normal to lose hair.

I'm almost 4 months out and having hair loss. I have thin hair to begin
with and my scalp is showing more and more. Ive tried everything that I
could think of to stop it but nothing has helped. I guess I just have to
cover (hat) and wait it out. (I hope it stops soon cuz my family hates
eating hairballs for dinner.YUK!) I read from the postings here that it
does grow back so Im not worried.

I too had thin hair to begin with and have experienced tremendous hair
loss. I have a very public job and it is embarrassing. I have found a
product that works. It is called Toppik. It is a fine powder that you dust
over your head and work in. The fibers cling to your hair and it really
makes your hair look thicker, especially if you wear a fair amount of it.
You can get it in different colors. Here is the web site:

I am 6 months post op. I started losing my hair at three months. It
continued until the 5th month. My hair was coming out by the handful . I
increased my protein levels and I was taking botin twice a day. I also
spoke with my hair stylist about styles that would be more flattering to my
hair loss. I wish you luck!!

I think I fooled my head. My sister told me she lost enough hair to need a
wig. So I bought one right after surgery. Even tho my hair got thinner, I
didn't notice that it actually fell out in clumps or anything. I did start
the biotin capsules, shampoo, and conditioner about 6 weeks before surgery
and continued on that. I don't know if that had anything to do with it. I
hope most people know enough not to get perms or anything else that puts a
strain on the hair until quite a while after surgery. But, like everyone
says, it does come back and healthier. So hang in there.
