Question:
Where can I find good tasting protein drinks at a good price?
I am getting ready for surgury at the end of this month and want to be ready. Any information would help! I have seen some sites that have samples but which do I buy to try? — Sharon A. (posted on September 10, 2003)

I use the EAS Metroplex, and you can find it at Walmart, Albertson's and
other grocery stores, it is about $5 for four 8 oz individual containers.
Watch the labels, I think the EAS Metroplex Avantage has way to much sugar.
As a powdered Shake mix, I use the Carb Solutions, it mixes with cold
water, so I do not have to have milk on hand, and it is about $10 for a
13.5 oz can, I like the vanilla best, because I can mix things with it and
change the taste. I suggest you use the protein shake in the container
right after surgery, it sure is easier.

I use Carb Solutions Vanilla Soy Protein (available at Wal-Mart) because I
have a real problem with milk (it makes me dump) and you can mix it with
water. It's got a little sucrose in it, but not enough to make you dump.
I mix it with bananas, peaches, strawberries or a little sugar-free vanilla
syrup. Tastes just like a smoothie!

I usually go to www.wlssuccess.com. She has tons of samples, big variety of
shakes, snacks, etc. Shipping is reasonable and they remember to send
directions for mixing the samples!!

try www.vitalady.com. That is where I have gotten mine from. The
chocolate Thunder is amazing. I swear it tastes just like chocolate milk
if you use one of those braun hand mixer's. I love it. In fact, I would
drink this even if I didn't have too!! She also has samples for a 1.99
per. and lots of other items that cater to wls patients. good luck.

After trying many different protein powders, and spending way to much
money, I finally found something I can tolerate!! I even like it! It is
from GNC called Pro Performance, I got the unflavored. This morning I
mixed it with water and put in some instant coffee (decaf) along with ice
and it was great! At lunch I did the same thing but this time I added
carnation instant breakfast (sugar free) and once again, it was
great!!!!!!!!!! You can use milk if you want but milk doesn't agree with
me. Another thing, this was not that thick chalky stuff, thin and very
drinkable. Good luck!!! 5 weeks and 38# gone forever!!!

Hey, I have tried the Isopure zero carb protein drink. It comes premixed in
a bottle, and about 8 (I think) flavors. I like it if it is really cold.
And it is a clear liquid, so can be used from the get go. It offers 40 gms
of protein per bottle, with 0 carbs. I buy it at Rios, but it is available
at vitamin shoppes. You can check out their web site if you'd like
www.isopure.com.
I'll keep you in my prayers as your day approaches, mine is close also,
10-10-03, can't wait!!
