I used to work in a low carb shop and would suggest checking there, either
online or one in your area, if you haven't already. There is an online
store that we used to purchase from wholesale for the store:
www.synergydiet.com . They sell a breakfast granola made by Flaxomeal, as
well as a line of hot breakfast (much like Malt o meal or Cream of Wheat)
that is wonderful. Also, there is a snack "cracker" made
exclusively of cheese appropriately titled, Just the Cheese. Both are
different sources of protein. There is another shop we used
www.carbsmart.com that has numerous products as well. Just some ideas
from...Just Me.

The only way that I got my protein up to and past 60 grams by 10 days post
op was to drink a shake. I am almost 8 months post op and I still drink at
least one shake per day and sometimes two as I try to keep my protein at
80-100+ grams per day. I personally like Real Meals because it is very high
quality and you only need to get in 6 ounces of fluid to get 30 grams of
protein. Which shake you choose is very personal because what I may love
may gag you and vice versa. Whatever you choose make it whey protein as it
is the most absorbable for us posties.

Hi Katrina: I agree with Carol. You have to try different ones to see
which tastes best to YOU. There are several powders you can try. Any
powder that gives you 30 grams of protein in 5 or 6 oz of water/fluid is a
good one. Optimum Nutrition Pro Complex (the one I use) gives you 27 grams
of protein per scoop. I do 3 heaping scoops in 15 oz. of water and get 81+
grams of protein. That guarantees my minimum intake...then I get 20+ more
grams from food. It was just impossible for me to get as much protein as I
needed from food alone. Make sure you don't take in more than 30 grams of
protein per sitting. That's all we can absorb at one time. I drink 5 oz.
in the morning, 5 before lunch, and the last 5 before supper (at least an
hour before meals). Good luck!!

I add ProPerformance unflavored whey protein powder to chocolate milk which
makes 29 grams of protein - I can't taste the powder, but you do need to
blend it with a beater or miniblender, and it does make it a little richer.
