Question:
Has anyone had problems getting pregnant preop become pregnant postop?

I haven't been able to get pregnant since my son was born 23 yrs ago.I was told due to my weight i was not ovulating.I was wondering if any one else had this problem and has become pregnant after surgery? I would love to have at least one more miracle.    — Lisa B. (posted on September 4, 2003)

Hi Lisa I became pregnant only 2 months post-op. Sure it was way too early but it was something my husband and I had wanted for over 5 years. I was not ovulating because of my weight either. I was diagnosed with PCOS. But miracles do happen...I became pregnant with twins! They were born 5/9/03 at 37 weeks which is considered full term for twins. Up until I was 34 1/2 weeks I had only gained 12 lbs. The last 2 1/2 weeks I put on 28 lbs but it was all fluid. Within 1 week of having the babies, I dropped almost 60 lbs. I haven't been at my current weigh (180) since I was in high school. I feel great and look good. I am now back on track...although I am finding it hard to squeeze in exercize again. But as soon as the weather cools down and the rain stops, I'll be packing up the twins for my 2 mile walk each night. By the way, I had a boy, Samuel, and a girl, Savannah!

Oh boy... good question and believe it or not, there are people out there having wls just so they CAN get pregnant!! I am 20 months post op and 13 weeks pregnant! I was told I would NEVER have kids and this slapped us out of the blue... my profile has the story, if you are interested! There is a yahoo group for pregnancy after wls, too!! Check them out, too! :~) I'm there!! LOL! There are lots of ladies anywhere from 2 weeks post op to three years post op who are pregnant on this list... it's a good one to join if you are interested in becoming pregnant after wls, or have become pregnant after wls! gosh sometimes i think wls is the cure to infertility..i was infertile for 16 yrs and when i was 10 months post op 11/02 SURPRISE i was pregnant and didnt know it unfortunalty i had a miscarriage however, just knowing i conceived was a doozy...we have been using protection up till just recently since we are now ttc ... good luck to you deanna
