Question:
Are there any long term post ops using the Weight Watchers plan
to lose those last 10-20 lbs. ?? I need to and have the WW book so I wanted to hear from anyone currently using it to lose and is it working? Thanks! — michelle T. (posted on August 25, 2003)

I am 14 months post RNY and have lost 96 pounds. I tried WW for the last 15
pounds and in 4 weeks lost 7 ounces. It really went against all the
retraining I did post WSL to not be a slave to the scale so I quit and went
back to my basics on the week days and i do whatever i want on the weekends
and have dropped 6 of 15 in 3 weeks. I personally thought it was too many
carbs for me as I am a type I diabetic so i watch my carbs closely. Just
remeber the same rule applies to us as everyone else burn more calories
than you take in and your gonna lose. Good Luck, Lesley

Former Weight Watcher here. GREAT diet plan IF you can stay on a diet! I
still believe in a balanced 'diet'. I do my protein first, but I want
veggies, salads and fresh fruit too. Not into bread, potatoes, or pasta
any more. Carbs are important, but it's a little TOO easy to get those in.
Don't even have to work at it. My carbs come mainly from fresh fruit.
Open RNY 10/30/02 minus 189 lbs.

I'm almost 13 months out and started WW this June. I think is has helped
me. They do watch fiber and fat, rather than protein and carbs, but with
the point system, it's very easy to eat how you need to and just keep track
of points. I found I had to eat more to get the right points and lost 10
pounds the first month. It's slowed down again now, but I admit to not
being quite so diligent about recording everything and portion size. As
always, it's a tool that will work for you if you work for it.

I am 19 months post op. I have lost 109 pounds. I wanted to lose about 20
more to reach my personal goal. BUT, my body has reached a weight that IT
is happy with. I am happy too cause I look and feel great. It would have
been nice to get to goal but my body says that THIS weight is my goal
weight. I thought about dieting to lose the last 20 pounds but, ya know
what, I didn't have this surgery to go back to dieting. I figure, if my
body is happy with this weight, then this is where I will stay. Let's face
it, diets don't work. You may lose what you want to lose but don't you
think it will come back, like it has so many times in the past??? I don't
want to take the chance of losing the extra 20 pounds only to gain it back,
along with maybe a few more like it has in the past. If diets worked we
wouldn't be here would we?
