Question:
What should I take with me to the hospital?????
Any suggestions on what to take with me to the hospital? Current clothes? Necessities? Lap-Surgery on 8-26-03 — e_tn_greneyz (posted on August 21, 2003)

something lose and cool to wear home, lip balm, tissues (the ones in the
hospital are awful!), a pillow for the ride home (and to sleep with if you
REALLY like your pillow, slippers or comfy slipper socks, and a small fan
(but ask the hospital first if they permit them). Good luck!

Hi Melissa - Instead of taking extra clothes with you to the hospital, just
wear home the ones you wore in. Make sure they are loose and comfortable.
Keep in mind, you may not feel like wearing a bra going home, depending on
your incision area....so wear a big, dark baggy shirt, just in case! Also,
just bring the stuff that makes you feel better (lotion, shampoo...) Lip
balm, robe, slippers and a calling card. Don't worry about filling your
time there... you will not be able to read much or play games because of
the medications. When you are awake.... you need to walk and move around as
much as you can.
Best of luck to you! I am excited for you... this is a really brave and
wonderful step you are taking for yourself and your future!! Open RNY

Hi. I would take all of the things recommended by the previous posters.
Also, I am taking Biore pre moistened face cloths. I think this will make
it easier to keep clean until you are allowed to shower. Also, lotion,
pads, paper and pen to write down any questions and a water bottle for the
ride home. Just make a list and pack as you get the stuff. That is what I
did. I am scheduled for 9-3-03. Good luck! And don't worry too much...you
will be fine. :)

Good luck! I would take your most comfortable nightgown, (not a long one
though, it'll get tangled on you in the bed) a robe or loose fitting dress
for walking the halls, slippers, chapstick, a backscratcher or wooden spoon
to help reach in the bathroom, and I too took a small fan. Had a little
fever post-op and my fan was really comforting.
