Question:
what could make you gain 10lbs in one month, if your stomach is transected ?
My eatng and water and exercise is all the same as before, but bam I have gained 10 lbs in a month. I am a medial, 10 months post op, and a slow loser. I have lost 85lbs total---is this it? has my "window of opportunity" passed? I am frantic!! It is also not water gain as I take a lasix. any help will be greatly appreciated. Oh yes my PCP athinks its the protein shakes, which I only make with water, ice and sugar free flavorings. — Beverly H. (posted on August 13, 2003)

Could you be immune to the lasix? If you have been on them for a long time
you may need to try a different kind because it does sound like fluid.

Fluid is the first thing that came to my mind also. Check out your protein
drink. Don't assume just because you make with water etc. that it's okay.
If you truthfully know that you have not started eating high calorie things
etc. then watch it closely and if the trend continues get some testing
done. Thyroid would be the place I would start. Something is wacko as it
is would be very difficult to gain 10 lbs and not have any idea how it
happened, but it is possible if something is changed in your metabolism.
May need to see an endocrinologist if things continue. It's not that time
of the month is it or close to it? This could make you hold a bunch of
water that the lasix won;t work on. I don;t obvisouly have anything
definitive - just trying to throw ideas out.

Keep a food journal. You just might be surprised.
