It depends on what type of diet your doctor has you on. As soon as I was
released from the hospital I was on pureed foods and could have peanut
butter, I chose the creamy natural kind because it doesn't have any added
sugar. I mixed 1 tbsp with 1/4 c of baby food bananas, microwaved a couple
seconds so it melted together then put it in the freezer to make it a cool
treat. After a week I was eating peanut butter on 1/2 banana. Eating
right of the spoon works good too:) Enjoy!

Be easy with it! Try only one or two small licks at first, okay? See my
second profile (under sharon m. brittain) for a good diet to follow, it
tells you when you should try some things, at what stage, etc... good luck!

I would avoid low-fat products in general, they add sugar. Natural smooth
peanut butter is best.

Hi Kelli- If the reduced fat type turns out to be too much sugar, the
natural peanut butter sweetened with Splenda is very tasty. It was one of
my favorite Atkin's snacks :o)

Sure you can! Just by the natural peanut butter by Smuckers. I use it to
make into little balls, sweetened with Splenda and add crushed peanuts and
roll in cocoa powder or unsweetened coconut. Refridgerate them and enjoy
for an occasional bite-I consider them part of a protein meal. Diane N

actually ... peanut butter saved me. Skippy has these "tubes" of
peanut butter (less than one ounce each, but handy to carry around with
you). for some reason, food (and protein shakes, etc.) just seemed to be
going through me too fast ... I actually dumped from a protein shake (go
figure)! I also felt nauseated all the time. Anyway ... I had a tube of
the peanut butter (I think only 4 gr sugar) ... and it stuck with me and
satisfied me (I didn't have that gnawing feeling of being nauseated). I
told my nutritionist afterward, and she said it was ok ... I don't have
peanut butter too frequently, but its there if I need it!

It depends on what your doc says you can have. My surgeon sends us home on
soft foods so I ate it about 2 or 3 weeks out when I got a craving for it.
I never really liked peanut butter much before but after surgery I found I
cant live without it. Even now I have a spoon full almost every day for
one of my snacks. ~Sidney~ Open RNY 10-23-02 down 110+ and counting
