Question:
Where does the weight loss show up first on your body, in what order?
I can't help but be curious where people first notice the weight has disappeared from. Maybe we aren't all the same but where did you notice it first (Example: your neck). Thanks — Delores M. (posted on July 29, 2003)

I don't know if this is an old wife's tale, but it seems to be true, in my
case anyway. You gain weight from the bottom up (feet), and you lose from
the top down (face). So I noticed weight LOSS in face first...my
cheekbones came out again and even my fatty eyelids smoothed out again.
The neck and shoulders came next, especially my clavicles...they started to
stick out again. I do know this...the belly is the last to go (if it ever
does without a tummy tuck)...and that's right in the middle...so I don't
know what's up with that! LOL Hugs, Joy

I think I first noticed the weight loss in my face. My cheeks didn't look
as swollen as they used to. After that I noticed it in my thighs. I've also
got a waist again. Sadly, now I am seeing my boobs disappear. But hey I
could deal with small boobs if my body gets small too. Two months post op
down 50 pounds.

i have been shrinking from top to bottom, my face, my neck, my sholders, my
chest, my mid section, just now getting to the real problem areas (stomach,
hips, butt, thighs)95 months out down 80+)

LOL Joy!! That is so true about the stomach (abdomen)! I can't wait to
finish losing so I can get the TT! I first saw loss in my face too; in just
a couple of days I looked like myself again! Also my stomach (not abdomen);
DS removes much of the stomach vertically, and in my case must have been a
lot because of my high volume of pre-op bingeing. My daughter noticed the
diff right away. http://duodenalswitch.com

I lost first in my face, feet, hands and wrists (I've had to have links
taken out of my watch twice in the past four months, and all of my rings
have too big to wear since about a month after surgery). It's taking
forever to come off my belly, where I want it most badly. Now, it occurs
to me that the face, feet and hands are all considerably smaller than the
stomach, butt and thighs and so would show weight loss sooner, even if the
loss is proportional all around.

My face and ankles were the first places to lose noticeable weight.

I have heard
that "the last place you put on weight, is the first place you lose
it", which seems true with me. The very first place I noticed the
loss was in my wrist; I had move up to next hole (I will need to buy a new
band soon as I can get it to the last one, but its not comfortable to wear
everyday yet); the next place was my face/chin and then my feet, I never
really had chubby feet, but now shoes that were "regular" width
that I wear all the time are too big!
Good Luck!!~~Wendy

I noticed it in my face first, then my buttocks (I had an exaggerated
version of the J-Lo butt), then my breasts (and THANK GOD for that one!)
My buttocks and breasts were firmer when I weighed more...I need to walk
more. I'm wearing a bra that's 4 sizes smaller around, but 2 higher in the
cup now. Alas! I don't care where I'm losing as long as I keep losing!
Good luck!

Maybe someone put a hex on me years ago, but my boobs are going first, and
I didn't have any to spare to start with! LOL Seriously, though, I'm
almost 2 months out and down 2 pant sizes and a ring size along with a
stupid cup size. ;) Best of luck to you!

Face, wrist, boobs...and like the person before didn't have much to start
with!!! I have lost some in the sagging stomach, but there is just sooo
much more to lose.

Butt first (no, that's NOT the way I walk into a room!!). Then hips. Then
face. Other people noticed my loss in about the same order as I have. I'm
just waiting to see where I'll lose next. Hopefully the boobs!! (open rny

hands, ankles, face then the area above my panni (between belly button and
breasts), the butt - the back of it, not the hips (darn it anyway)! Hips
and lower belly seem to be last to go. I'm not sure when the breasts
themselves deflated, but one night I laid down on my back and well hell,
they were under my armpits (what was left of them!). Ack!

When my sister had WLS (4/01) I was helping her get ready to go home and
she felt awful. Before getting in the wheelchair to leave, she rested on
the side of the bed and, in a very tired, weak, pathetic, voice, she asked
me why she did this...she felt sooooo sick. I pointed to the floor and
said, "your hospital bracelet just fell off your wrist." Her
eyes lit up and she said, "I lost weight!" That was 220 lbs
ago!! So, she noticed it in her wrists first! Personally, I noticed in my
face and neck.
Best of luck...

I heard that you lose in the reverse order that you gain and this was true
for me. Last on, first off. So if you gained weight in the hips first,
then upper torso and face, you'll lose in the face first, then upper
torson, then hips.

I never really thought about the order in which I've lost weight. But
since reading responses to your post I realize that I lost first in my
face. I noticed it first thing when I returned from the hospital after
surgery. Right now I'm down 160 pounds and about 15 pounds from goal
weight but my calves and ankles seem to be very large compared with
everywhere else (especially the breasts). But they say cowboys love fat
calves. (LOL) Too bad, I don't know any cowboys.

HEY posters! I'm still pre-op and as soon as I got approved for surgery my
boobs started to shrink! What's up with that? lol
