Question:
ANYONE HAVE PLASTIC SURGERY WITH.....
DR. ZAC LEWIS IN TRENTON MICHIGAN. I HAVE BEEN APPROVED TO HAVE MY TUUMY TUCK, BUT THEY DENIED THE HERNIA REPAIR, WHICH MEANS NO SENSE TO ME AT ALL. I HAVE BCBS TRADIONAL, HAS ANYONE FACED THIS. — Gale G. (posted on July 24, 2003)

I am not an expert on this by any means, but I have a theory about it.
Perhaps they approved the TT and denied the hernia repair simply because
the first surgery will correct the second. Does that make sense? If they
approved both, then in essence they would be giving approval to have the
same surgery twice. Just a thought. You might call the insurance company
and ask for clarification. My experience has been that they are more than
happy to explain things that you don't understand. Or...maybe that is just
my insurance company! :) Good luck!

Im no expert either but from what I understand there is a certain TYPE of
hernia that insurance will not pay for because it actually causes no
medical or physical problems.DO you have Aetna by any chance.

I have traditional BCBS through Ford Motor Company and they approved my
abdominoplasty (TT), but denied the hernia repair because "this
procedure is part of the approved abdominoplasty". I'd never heard of
this, but when I questioned my plastic surgeon, he said it would definitely
be fixed during my TT. Good luck!
