Question:
What causes orthostatic hypotension when you have normal labs?
I'm 9 months post-op and I was feeling great except for these near-fainting spells when I stood up. I had lots of energy but these episodes continued and became more frequent. Now I'm severely fatigued and I can hardly stand up some times. I get shaky and weak every few days, so weak I can't even hold a glass of water. I have to go lay down for a while. My lab work is all good, I'm not dehydrated, I'm not pregnant, I'm not anemic. What's causing this??? The doc is stumped, too! — Trula B. (posted on July 21, 2003)

Have you tried increasing your water intake? Are you on any medications?
Your labs may look normal even if you are dehydrated. (Everything is more
concentrated). I am about where you are at 9 months out, and I can tell
when I have not had enough water - I get lightheaded when I stand up! It's
worth a try, especially in hot weather, to drink more.

Here is a list of articles about it. I read a couple and they both
suggested more salt and water and see if that works. Good luck!
