Question:
Pre-op would like to hear from long-term MicroPouch(R) patients
Do you ever get to eat fresh fruits and fruit juice? I am not a junk/fast food eater or a mood eater so much as a "gourmet/gourmande" if you will. My family is half French and we are great cooks. I fear that I will never be able to eat homemade bread, French cheese, Thai food, fresh fruits/juices again, even in small quantities. (Please say it ain't so!) Thanks for any information. — Suzanne M. (posted on July 13, 2003)

I had the micropouch on 12/31/03. I can eat anything but chicken. Fruits,
sugar, breads. Some days I can eat more than others. On a good day I can
eat about one fourth of what I did preop. You must use protein supplement
with this type of surgery. Dr. says for rest of life. Also I take 3 Ca
supplements a day, b 12 shots, a prenatal chewable vitamin. Dr. Wood
himself did my surgery. I would highly recommend this procedure, and this
dr. if you live close enough to get him. Several of my friends have had
bypass surgery and all of the ones that had the micopounch are doing great,
better than the regular bypass. This is the best thing I have ever done.

Had my surgery Aug2001. Down to size 8 from a 24. I eat anything I want.
In small quanities and with common sense. Yes I eat chicken, fruit and
bread. Bread fills me up fast. The only food I have problems with is
spaghetti, it won't stay down. Pasta will, in other forms aka elbow
noodles, lasagna etc, but not spaghetti. Go figure??? I do dump, if I eat
too much, but a bite or two of cake does not bother me. Fresh fruit does
not bother me. Nor does fruit juice, BUT they are high in carbs, so I have
to watch! Love this surgery Wood did mine also, and psssssssssssst he does
great tummy tucks too!
