Question:
I know, some people say don't weigh yourself at home. However............
I do like to weigh myself at home & I would like to purchase a very reliable digital scale. I would prefer one that weighs lbs as well as oz between the lbs. This way, I will know if I am loosing oz between the actual lbs. Please don't flame me for weighing at home. But, PLEASE DO, let me know the name brand of a scale that has worked very well for you, as well as, the approximate cost & stores where I could find this scale. My scale keeps jumping to different weights. So, I believe that it is time to retire it! I am in the low 200's, so I don't need a scale that reads higher then "normal". Thanks friends! I really appreciate your response. Hugs, Karen — [Deactivated Member] (posted on June 26, 2003)

I'm pre-op and weigh daily using WeightCommander.com program which tracks
the trends of my weight. It is an interesting program filled with lots of
good information and graphs. We own a "Thinner" brand digital
scale. Purchased it thru a catalog but now they can be purchased at Bed,
Bath & Beyond as well as Linen N Things I'm sure. It is a popular
brand. Cost between $60 to $100. The scale looks like it has a see thru
glass base (foot area). Very reliable scale. Weighs in 2/10ths of a
pound.

You know, I'm a slave to the scale and it makes me happy. But anyway -- I
bought my scale at Wal-Mart -- it's digital and weighs the ounces. It was
about $29 and it's the one by Denise Austin. Good luck and WEIGH WHENEVER
YOU WANT! :)

I don't see any problem with weighing at home unless it makes you crazy, so
you go right ahead! I weigh myself once a week (more often and the
fluctuations do make me crazy!). I bought a Tanita brand scale at
Walgreen's (I don't remember the price--maybe $40 or $45). It measures to
the half pound, but what I really like about it is that it also measures
your fat percentage. Seeing that number go down has been a real morale
booster (I went from 50% fat to 34% fat in three months). I am now
(barely) in the healthy range of fat % even though I'm still nearly 100
pounds over the insurance chart "ideal" weight. One place I can
feel normal already.

I've tried so many of these scales both digital and analog. As far as I'm
concerned they ALL are junk no matter if they cost over $100. I'd always
get a different weight each time. Finally I decided to order (Through JC
Penny) a DOCTORS scale. You know, the ones that have two weights that
slide... bottom ones being 50, 100, 150, 200 ect and the smaller 1-10.. or
whatever they read. Mine is the EXACT same brand that the health clinic
uses "Health o meter". It is spelled just like that... with the
little O and little m.
Werid. But I've never been sorry I got it. Expect to pay around $250-$400,
but in my opinion I'm WORTH IT. lol. It's one of the best things I've ever
paid hard cash for. AND I WEIGHT MYSELF EVERY MORNING BEFORE I GET DRESSED.
Should my weight creep up, I want to be aware of it and nip it in the bud
immediately. I have no intentions of ever weighing 319 again!

I bought myself a "Soehnle" scale on the net. It cost $49.99
plus S&H. It was the best thing I could have bought. It weighs up to
350lbs. and it goes pounds and tenths of a pound. It has a granite top and
it balances itself prior to someone standing on it. It is accurate within
2/10th of a pound and that is the most degradation it will get over a two
year period. Hope this helps you out....Good luck

Original poster here... Thanks so much for your wonderful responses. I have
looked into these scales that you have suggested & I must confess that
the Tanita scale sounds amazing! Now, just deciding on which model (&
price) I want!
