I'm about 2 mos post op. I was diagnosed with pcos when I was 18. bfor
surgery, I was hitting 291, and now am down 42 lbs. Pre op, I was on
birthcontrol, and also took a a drug called sprinilactone(sp?) to control
the hirstuism (I have a monster patch on my back and stomach, and could
grow a beard to rival my dh LOL!!). I also had a lot of problems with
cycst. Now, I'm at 249 lbs, and only use the ortho evra patch. I do know my
weightloss is a little slow, but I'm averaging about 5 lbs a week, and my
doc is satisfied as long as it stays steady. I have also had little to no
problems with cysts anymore. PCOS is a disease that can make you insulin
resistant, and that in turn causes you to secreat a horemone that makes
your fat cells about 3-4x bigger than a person without it, and even with
surgery can make you loose a little slower. Also, With our abosorption
problems being on the pill means you might not get the full dose required
to prevent pregnancy, and being on the patch also regulates your cycles. I
have found since loosing I've had less problems with the symptoms, and have
actualy started ovulating again. I didn't do that even when I was on
fertility drugs!! It also doens't help that I have hypothyroidism either.
(SIGH!!!), but I AM loosing.... Slowly but sureley.....

Before surgery, even dr prescribed diet pills made me gain, since the
surgery (11 weeks) I have lost 65lbs. I was diagnosed in 2000 with all the
classic symptoms. My hiritism has not gotten better at least not for my
taste, but I have a period like clockwork every month. I do low carb
because of the insulin resistance which makes me a carb addict. That may be
what is helping me lose so fast. 296/235/whenever I stop losing- open rny
