Question:
Who do I call to check on approval if I have an HMO?

I have CIGNA HMO and would like to check on the status of my insurance approval. Should I call my local network that referred me to the surgeon or do I call CIGNA itself?    — duane B. (posted on June 19, 2003)

I had called the customer service representative EVERY day to check the status of my approval. Just call the telephone number provided on your insurance card. Good Luck

Does Cigna have a website that you can access your records? Humana has a self service website that updates every night. I was able to check the website and found out that my surgery had been approved even before the doctors ofice knew. It's worth checking out. Good luck!

I am a Life and Health Insurance Specialist inthe State Of CT. You can call the Medical Management Dept for this info or the pre-certification number on your ID card. Either will be able to help you. They should pre-cert surgery with in 48 hours. Good Luck. Elaine S
