Hi there...I am a little over 3 months post-op from having the VBG surgery.
I am down 60lbs and feel wonderful. This surgery has worked great for me.
But I also have had to make it work. It is a "tool" they say and
it will only work if YOU want it to. I can't see going through the surgery,
paying the $$ out of pocket that I paid and then failing. I will make it
work and not fail. Sure we have our ups and downs but its the same way
whether it be the VBG, RNY or LapBand. You have to make it work for YOU!
Good luck in your progress.

I agree with the previous post, I got so many neg remarks with regards to
getting the VGB, I had no choice do to my anatomy my Doc had to preform the
VGB, but its a tool, I consider myself a success I am 7 months post op and
down 75 pounds I was a light weight to start with so it really shows. I am
more alert being that I cant get a revision, so failing is not an option.
Best of Luck

Norma,
Don't get down. You are appr. where I am now. I had my VBG on April 22nd
and am down 50 pounds. It can and does work but you also have to put in
some effort as I found out. Craving icecream? Get SF popsicles. Walk
when you can. Personally I put myself on a schedule and keep a food diary
so I know exactly what is going in. Eat slowly (I found that one out
fairly soon after the surgery) and water, water, water. I emphasize with
you. This surgery (any of the WLS's) changes your whole life. Sometimes
we see others who have lost so much more than we have and we think we are
doing something wrong. Keep going and keep losing. No other means that I
used to lose weight has worked. this has and I am keeping it off. Yes, I
fail and often. But it is getting better every day. I am starting to
learn where my weaknesses lie and turning them around. I love being able
to walk again and sleep without snoring. Keep your chin up and keep going.
This does and will work for you too. If you need to talk to others who has
had this surgery go to the VBG group site on Yahoo.com. They are a
wonderful group who have all had the VBG and are successful with it. Good
Luck and I will be praying for you.
