Question:
At 9 mon. post op why am I suddenly nauseous after meals?
I've noticed that in the last couple of weeks, any time I eat or even if I drink a protein drink (just powder + water), I end up nauseous. I haven't been sick (or pregnant for that matter). I thought maybe I wasn't eating slow enough, or chewing well enough. So I've been extra diligent & it doesn't seem to be the case. I've searched through the library w/out success. Any ideas? — Rebekah B. (posted on June 17, 2003)

Wish I had an idea for you - and I'm sure someone will, but if you don't
get any good ideas it sure wouldn't hurt to call your doc and discuss it
with them. Hope it gets better for you soon!

I've been having the same problem, very nauseous but not throwing up after
I eat anything. I talked to an RN who has had WLS and she thought that
maybe I have more stomach acid than I need. I will be calling my surgeons
office as soon as they open the doors this morning to make sure and put my
mind (and pouch) at ease. Good luck to you. ~Sidney~ Open RNY 10-23-02 down

I did this too at about 12 months out. It just went away. My doc said I
may have had a bug of some kind. He put me on 7 days of nexium and after
that I had no problem but check with your doc.

I have had this happen twice now, for about a week each, since my surgery
almost five months ago. I'm not sure what the deal is, but isn't it
frustrating? I guess if it's been a couple of weeks already, I would
definitely call your doctor, there might be a simple solution. No need to
keep being be miserable. Hope you find an answer.

Another thing to consider is that your nausea is possibly related to the
gallbladder. If you still have one that is. I recently started having some
nausea after the back pain and upper ribcage pain started. Last night was
the worst attack from Mr. Nasty Gallbladder yet, and it included nausea for
the first time. I'm scheduled to see my gastric bypass surgeon next
Thursday to discuss donation of said-gallbladder. :o
