Question:
My Surgeon found EKG Right Bundle Branch Block

Hi AMOS family...Alice from Dr. Higa's office called me and she noticed that my EKG showed a Right Bundle Branch Block. She wants me to see a Cardiologist to clear me for surgery. I'm kinda bummed...has anyone else ever had something like this. Thanks guys...I see my PCP tomorrow for a referral to the Cardiologist...I hope it doesn't talk that long.    — Alisia P. Generally speaking,a RIGHT bundle branch block is just a normal variant, like when someone has one blue eye and one brown eye, different but not necessarily bad - it can usually mean there is nothing dangerous going on. Of course, it is something they check out just be sure. I personally have a RBBB, have had a complete workup, and there was nothing wrong. Now, a LEFT BBB is always serious. Here is a link that you can cut and paste that will get you to a web site with more info. The info you specifically want is on page 2. Don't worry, it is probably nothing, but better to check it out and play it safe. To check me out, they did a 24-hour Holter monitor and an ultrasound of my heart. Since that was 12 years ago and I'm having WLS soon, I asked for a more current evaluation, so I'll be having an exercise stress test next week. http://heartdisease.about.com/library/weekly/aa020101a.htm

Many people have a right bundle, it is typically less significant than a left bundle. I am sure if there are no symptoms or other problems, they will pass you along, depending on your age and meds, and other health problems, they might want to do a stress test or cath, or other testing, but likely they will do nothing.
