Question:
Seeking Those Transected DURING Revison

I WAS JUST WONDERING IF ANYONE HAD THE OPEN RNY AND WAS NOT TRANSECTED, AND THEN DECIDED TO HAVE IT REVISED AND GET IT TRANSECTED? I HAVE NOT LOST 1 POUND IN ALMOST 4 MONTHS. I AM HUNGRY ALL THE TIME AND NEVER GET FULL. POSSIBLY BECAUSE OF AN ENLARGED STOMA OR SOMETHING. HAS ANYONE HAD A REVISION DONE TO BE TRANSECTED, OR DID YOU HAVE TO HAVE A STAPLE LINE DISRUPTION IN ORDER TO HAVE THIS DONE. ANY ANSWERS WOULD BE SO APPREICATED.    — Gale G. I read your profile (all three) and your doc has scoped you and no stoma you said, and you were very hungry then. Did they play with your hyper-thyroid meds? I can't answer your original question because I've never had a revision, so I was just looking for clues on why your loss has stalled out so badly. You don't mention a whole lot about what you eat - are you still doing 1800 calories a day? That's quite a bit for how far out you are and could have something to do with it. Are you still drinking pop? Do you drink with meals? Anyway, I hope they figure out what's wrong and can get it going again for you. Best of luck!

I just reread my answer and it wasn't clear! I was tired when I answered so forgive me. I had rny without transection and developed a SLD. I had a revision to transected pouch 9 mos later. Gale, are you transected? Do you have SLD? The only way my surgeon would redo my surgery with transection this time was because I had SLD. I don't believe insurance would have covered it otherwise. They covered the revision because it was considered corrective surgery since my first rny had come "undone".
