Scars do fade with time,I had gallbladder surgery 16 years ago with the
old-fashion long scar it is still visible but not as much. My OPEN RNY scar
has faded just a tad in almost a year, but hey I would take that than be
OBESE again.

My appendix was removed in August of 1952 (yes, 1952) and although it has
faded it has always been obvious. I really never thought about it. Now I
have a deep wine scar from an open gall bladder surgery AND a breastbone to
belly button scar from hernia repair which replaced the horrible scars I
had from WLS and the ensuing staph/strep surgery. They all get along
pretty nicely and look rather interesting together. I know I'm an old bat
now, but I just never gave much thought to all my scars even when I was
younger. They never seemed very important to me; guess I was lucky that
way. Good luck to you and I hope your scars fade out so you are
comfortable with them..Nina in Maine

Absolutely they fade ... had gall bladder surgery about 10 years ago and it
faded pretty quickly. I still know it is there, but it is no big deal to
me. Surgeon had me use Vitamin E oil on the "healed" incision to
help.

The key to helping scars fade is to keep them out of the sun for the first
several months following surgery. My LAP RNY scars are all but gone in 8
months.

Mine has faded but you can still see it. It's not so bad. To tell the
truth, I'm proud of it because it reminds me just what I had to do to get
healthy and happy. ~Sidney~ Open RNY 10-23-02 down 100 and counting

I have several large scars. I started using 'Scargo' available at Vitalady
(the only place I have seen it). It is only about $7/bottle and that lasts
a lifetime.
