Question:
Long Term Post Ops...does anyone use diet pills to lose the last 10 lbs?

I am technically "at goal" weight, but I really want to lose ten more pounds, and no matter what I do, the scale won't budge. I've tried the pouch rules, doing Atkins, exercising, lots of water to no avail. I'm thinking of using a fat burner type of pill because I have stubborn fat on my hip and thigh area - even WITH exercising! I don't need it for appetite control because I'm not usually hungry, but do want a fat burner. Any suggestions or names of good ones? I'm not looking for advice on eating or exercising, I've done that. I really only want to hear from those who know of a good fat burner pill for me. :) thanks!    — michelle T. Sorry I don't fall into the criteria you required for an answer, but PLEASE talk to your doctor about what pills are safe for postops to take and what are not. Just my opinion and I will not go on about it===peace and best wishes--terry

If you're only 10 lbs away from goal - would lipo work? Then the fat areas would be gone forever. With diet pills, when you finish taking then, there's the risk of regaining. Good luck and congrats on being within 10 lbs from goal!

I don't think those fat burning pills will help you to "spot" reduce. Unfortunately, they don't target specific areas. I would have to agree that lipo sounds like a good alternative. Shelley

Diet pills are for appetite suppression which is not your problem (lucky you!!). I think that the fat burner pills they advertise are just gimmicks, so don't waste your $. No pill is going to burn fat. If it worked, don't you think everyone would know about it and it would be the hottest drug on the market? In fact, we wouldn't have to have WLS, just burn the fat off with the pills...You may want to look into lipo like the last poster suggested, since you have pinpointed the areas that you are dissatisfied with.

The fact that you've fought so hard and not budged may mean that your body is happy where it is. I believe the fat burners try to up your metabolism, which you can do by increasing your cardio. Your body doesn't start burning the fat until after at least 20 minutes, so I try to do 45 on the eliptical. Do that every day and you'll burn some fat! The problem w/ the pills is that it goes back on as soon as you stop. I also like the lipo idea. That will remove the fat cells permanently. Lots of the fat burners have ephedra, which can be very dangerous.

I have heard of Colvera collegen protein pills that are supposed to burn fat. A local radio dj promotes this product and she is a post op rny, a year and a half I believe. She says it really works and there are NO stimilants and NO appetite supressant. They are made of a fast disolving gel-cap. So no need to worry about aborption etc. Go to www.bestproductever.com

No lectures here, just want you to make sure you're careful. I know firsthand what pills can do to a post-op stomach (not diet- but other pills deemed safe). Diet pills are as a whole unsafe for people, due to increased heart rate etc. How long have you been stuck at this weight? Just thinking that maybe your body still may let you lose a few w/o doing anything. There have been people who were on multi-month plateaus and lost more afterwards, so you never know! But if you are going to go with pills, please check with your doc. I think someone mentioned lipo before. That's a good idea for me too! lol It's often the case that many of us have a few lbs that are stubborn and just don't go away no matter what; I'm even at my goal but still have some problem areas that weight loss just won't take care of! But I hope you lose your last 10 lbs., i know its frustrating! Goodluck to you!

I just wanted to say you look beautiful! If those 10 pounds hang around, they are not an unattractive 10 pounds!

I am in the same boat. I was 250 b4 surgery and now I bounce from 135 to 140 but I cant lose anymore either. I went to the Dr and he said I had no more to lose, I have a big apron and he said I might have to have the panni to get rid of the last pounds because there was no more to lose. He figured the apron weighed about 5-6 pounds. Mabey that is what is going on with you.?
