Question:
i am 5''5

was wondering if anyone near these stats and hypothyroidism can tell me how well the weight loss was after surgery. i am going for a lap rny.was told weight loss would be really slow.    — tacy T. (posted on May 27, 2003)

I am 5'5" and started out at 242pounds. I also have Hypothyroidism. Right now I am a little over 5 months out and am down 72 pounds. Not losing as fast as some, but I was considered a "lightweight" for this surgery. Good luck! lap rny 12/17/02...242/170/140

I'm 5'5.5" and I take Synthroid & Cytomel for hypothyroidism. My highest pre-op weight was 267. I lost a little right before surgery, and my surgery-day weight was 249. I'm 11 months post-op from the DS (which usually has slightly slower weight loss than the RNY), and I now weigh 152 -- my BMI is a "normal" 24.9 for the first time since high school (what a feeling!). I'd still like to lose about 20 more pounds. I think that is going to be very do-able, as I still seem to be losing a pound or so each week. I've been very happy with my results, and I hope that you will be, too. Good luck!
