Question:

Hi, i have suffered migraines for as long as i can remember. If you suffered from them too.. has the surgery changed them — tracy W. (posted on May 24, 2003)

i fail to see why wls would help migraines. I had them all my life also
from the time I was twelve until I went thru menopause. I have had a few
really bad headaches since surgery but they were not migraines and have
stopped now at four months post-op.

I suffer from chronic daily headaches, and unfortunately they did not go
away after my surgery a year ago. It's posssible they could for you, but
the only thing I've heard of is that if the headaches are from pseudotumor
cerebri, then WLS can help it. Otherwise, you'd need to know the cause of
your headaches in order to determine how to help them, and that's not
always easy. Goodluck to you :-)

There is a possibility that your migrains will stop following surgery.
Some doctors believe that the anestisia can prevent future migrains. It
would depend on the patient.
