Question:
Italian Garden, Can I Eat there about 5-6 weeks Post-op?

I will be having a family function at the italian garden and I'd really like to be able to attend and not just sit there looking funny. Will I be able to eat there?    — AliciasMommy (posted on May 22, 2003)

I'm pre-op, but know many people have problems with bread and pasta. Olive Garden has a website, you put in US then your zip code and it gives links to your restaurant and their menu ... http://www.olivegarden.com .... If you are able to eat chicken, you should be able to order it. My brother often gets just the broth off the soups and spends his time socializing. Not sure what you can eat at 5 to 6 weeks post op as his surgeon is different as to what they will allow. Good luck and have fun.

Olive Garden has been advertising a Chicken breast / cheese dish that looks marvelous! They also have a couple soups that might fit the bill.

At 2 and 1/2 weeks out I ate at an italian place. I ordered an appetizer; the meatballs with cheese. I ate 1/2 of it (1.5 meatballs) and was full. It went down very well, but we're all so different. If you've had hamburger before, then that might be an option if they have it.

I went to Olive Garden a few weeks post op on puree food and what I did was get Capalini (angel hair) pasta with alfredo sauce and chop it up finely. It worked so well. I also had some pasta bazul (sp) soup there too. I felt fine afterwords. Good LUck

If I had my choice at a great place to eat like that, I would take Chicken Parmigiana (just the side of only the chicken with sauce and cheese) anyday!!! It is great and I feel good eating that since it's protein. I am 5 months out and don't want to get started on bread and pasta yet, so that's my choice. It works unless you're at a conference like I was yesterday, where the meal was....bread (nope) pasta salad (nope) ravioli (nope) broccoli (i had two spears) and weed salad (could have had but don't like weeds)....I was so happy to have a small stomach yesterday!
