Question:
Rum has no carbs???
I just went to fitday.com becuase I wanted to see how many carbs rum has. And to my amazement, it says rum has no carbs. first it was 1 oz. and then I put 2 oz. and still it read 0 carbs. I thought that rum is sugar based. Is the website wrong, or can I have 1 oz. of rum and not feel guilty. (I wanted to have a "cuban mojito" tonight. I want to make a diet version, with splenda and diet sprite and of course the mint and lime juice. My husband made a diet version the other day, and I tasted it, and it was GOOD. I didn't have it that day, but today my husband ad I were going to rent a movie and relax and I wanted to have a drink. Anyway, I'm trying justify myself for having a drink.) I WOULD MOST DEFINITELY CHECK ANOTHER SOURCE... ALCOHOL IS SUGAR.. AND
THATS EXACTLY WHAT RUM IS MADE FROM..SUGAR...

I have checked several different sites to see the "carb" count on
rum. Alcohol does not have traditional "carbs". That being
said, Your two oz of rum will not destroy your diet. Now, alcohol is very
high in calories and goes into your body lowers the body's ability to burn
fat, and most alcohol ends up in the belly region. So, enjoy your movie
with your hubby, enjoy your drink, relax have a romantic evening in and
don't drink the bottle.

Atkins said even though alcohol has no carbs your body will burn the
alcohol first before any fat so you have to be careful or you can slow your
weight loss.

Any amount of alcohol has the potential to destroy a weight loss regime. It
hits your bloodstream and raises your insulin level, making you hungry! I
would stay far away from it unless you are at goal, and even then I would
limit intake to one or two (1 oz) drinks per WEEK, esp. for women, who burn
what they consume much differently from men. Do your body a favor and stay
away from it just as strongly as you (should) stay away from sugar and
starch. Just my Humble Opinion.
