Question:
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AT MY PSYCH CONSULT TOMORROW?
What kind of questions will be asked? — duane B. (posted on April 25, 2003)

It depends. I have seen posts from some who had to take the MMPI, which is
500+ true/false questions which are supposed to prove something, although
who knows what? I had to have one for one of the surgeons I considered and
in that case, the therapist just wanted to make sure that I knew what I was
getting into, didn't have any unrealistic expectations and had a support
network in place. I'm sure there are other things that could happen too.
Don't stress too much about it.

I rather enjoyed my testing, actually. Initially, I met with the
Pyschologist, who did an "interview" about me, my life, my
family, my childhood. For a "divorced kid", I think I turned out
pretty darn well! I know what I'm potentially getting into, I've done my
homework, etc. She could see that, and from there, on to the test, which
was like 567 questions. Now, I had speedreading, and bear in mind, they
are TRUE OR FALSE (NOT rocket science!!) questions. Be honest! Some of
the questions are bizarre, like "do you hear voices"? but again,
I've always liked "delving" a bit deeper.

I BELIEVE someone from this site e-mailed me, with regards to the Pysch
eval posting. Please, e-mail me back. As with most anyone's e-mail
account, if you aren't in my address book, it goes to the junk mail. Well,
about the time I hit "empty folder" (I get SOO much crap) I
briefly saw "Pysch eval" referenced in the subject line. By that
time, it was GONE...forever deleted. SO, whoever it was, write me again...I
promise I'll be slower to hit delete and would be happy to write you back!!
