Question:
How many carbs are too many???
I am in the grocery store and don't know how many carbs are too many? I was told they are impossible to totally avoid, but if someone can give me an idea about the number of carbs not to go over I would appreciate it. Thanx — NikkiCarter (posted on April 17, 2003)

Well, you sure don't want to avoid them; they're essential fuel for the
body. But it depends on how far out you are, what surgery you had, what
your doc recommends by way of a post-op diet, and what your own experiences
tell you about how many (and what types) of carbs trigger overeating in you
(if any). Lots of folks here follow an Atkins-like limit of 20 carbs per
day, which you'll almost certainly spent on your fruits and veggies and in
incidental carbs found in other stuff. I never followed that limit, but
just tried to keep my protein grams ahead of my carb grams for the day (so
some products did have more carbs than protein, and some didn't). I'm not
really sure whether that's correct, but it seemed to work for me.
