Question:
Does TriCare consider GERD a co-morbidity??
I just got back from the doctors office and have been diagnosed with GERD. I will be seeing a surgeon next month and I have TriCare insurance. I was wondering if Tricare considers GERD a co-morbidity. I can't seem to get an answer out of TriCare, so anyone's personal experience would be helpful. THANKS!! — Jennifer H. Jennifer, I know when you look at the Tricare criteria it says nothing
about GERD. I have Tricare Prime, I have GERD, I have back, leg, feet pain, I
also HAD my surgery on the 3rd of April. I was approved without a problem.
I know they look at you current weight, ideal weight, and BMI ( even though
the manual says nothing about BMI). I found that it was alot easier to deal
with my local tricare office verses the regional. Are you talking with the
nurses there at the tricare office in Idaho? If not-DO! I also had all my
papers sent to the local office and NOT the regional office. It will go
alot quicker for you. I would think you would qualify. I am 5'6" and
weighed 251- BMI of 40.5 with no comorbs- and I qualified. Good luck- If
you have any questions- feel free to email me. Jan
