Question:
How long after you get the rider can you get the surgery?

My husbands employer is going to get the obesity rider so that i can have this surgery. they can't get it until november at open enrolment. How long after we get the rider does it take effect? and when will i be able to have the surgery after we get the rider??    — SuzysTigger (posted on April 16, 2003)

They will give you an effective date when the rider is purchased in November. As long as all medical requirements are met and insurance benenfits approved, claims are payable on the very first day of effectiveness. Hope this helps.
