Question:
Has anyone had problems with loosing not enough weight due to taking estrogen?
I had a total hysterectomy 2 years ago and i am on estrogen, 2mg. daily of estradiol. I am 10 weeks post-op and am now 55 lbs. down, and very happy so far. I was just wondering if anyone has had any problems with not loosing enough weight due to estrogen replacement therapy, and could that eventually be a problem or not. Thanks. — Melodee S. I had a hysterectomy about 10 years ago, have been on estrogen ever
since.....no problem...I'm 8 months out, down 100 pounds. Have not heard
of anyone having a problem, so if anyone has, I'm curious to know too..

I don't think that the estrogen is the problem. I had a total hysterectomy
7 years ago and take the same HTR that you do. I a almost 3 years post op
and have lost all the weight that I need to. I have been stable in my
weight for the last year and a half. Maybe you need to re-evaluate your
diet or exercise level if you don't feel that you are losing as you should
be. What does your doctor say about your weight loss? How about talking
to the dietician to see where you can modify things?

I had a complete hysterectomy 8 mos. before my Lap RNY (it's been a busy
year) and I take a high dose of HRT. I'm now 10 1/2 mos. out -140 lbs. 15
lbs. from my goal of 135. I don't think it affected me at all. And by the
way, Your weight loss is GREAT!!!! Keep up the good work!

Based on my experience, I disagree. If you have a fluid retention
problems, estrogen can cause a slower weight loss because you will hang on
to fluids.
