In my case, the blood work simply involved having a tech take 5 small vials of blood - done in about 2 minutes tops. They are screening for a variety of things, including cholesterol, thyroid levels, glucose, and others. The only problem I can see there is if you're afraid of needles. Don't watch them sticking you, if you are. For the sonogram, I believe I had to remove my bra. They have you lay on a table, first on your back, and then on your side. They use a non-greasy lubricant, and a small hand-held tool which "sees" into your stomach cavity. At times, they may have to apply a small amount of pressure on your skin to be able to see what they need. It doesn't hurt, just is a little uncomfortable, but only for a couple of minutes. Good luck with your testing.

I just went through these tests yesterday as a matter of fact. I had my blood drawn at 11:00 a.m. so I couldn't eat or drink until the blood work and songram were completed. They took 5 viles of blood from me....they did it so quick I didn't even realize that they had taken that much. As far as the sonogram....I was able to keep my bra on, thank god! They had me lie on my back and they put a little pressure on the scope to take a look at my stomach cavity...gallbladder. They want to check to make sure you don't have stones...if you do they will usually take the gallbladder out when they are doing the surgery. I didn't experience any pain at all for either test. Hang in there!!
