Question:
Can you end up eating to much protein in a day? Is there a time that you should not
continue to eat protein thru the day? Thanks — paulsgirl (posted on March 31, 2003)

Wow, Sharon! I just read your profile (cute!) and I see you've lost 130
pounds in about nine months?? FANTASTIC! I don't know what you mean by
too much protein, but from your journal, you look like a model WLSer to me
-- all that exercise, too! I think if we have too much protein, there's a
chance we can develop kidney stones (IF we don't get lots of water in).
But, I'm not sure what "too much" protein is, in that context, or
in your question. But you are doing GREAT! (Read her profile!)

I think that too much protein is a relative term. I heard about a new study
that said that said that the 60 grams of protein recommended for post op
WLSers is way low. If anyone else read this please post. I would love to
read it. I think the previous poster hit it on the head with you need to
balance it out with enough water. Also if you exercise a lot you use a lot
of it. It is good to up your protein intake with certain kinds of exercise.

I had RNY and my doctor says that even though I only need about 40 grams
now, the more the better. He said I couldn't eat too much.
