Question:
How much time should I ask off from work with lap RNY?
I have a desk job with some traveling. I don't have a lot of time saved up, but would like to give my boss an advance warning. Any info appreciated. Thanks! — J H. (posted on March 16, 2003)

Two weeks tops... by the end of two weeks, you'll be flippin crazy to get
out of the house and move around. I am 8 days post and I am doing great.
Just a little slower than normal...lol.

I was out 3 weeks. I teach and the first few days were pretty tough but
the rest of the week was ok. I crashed this weekend. Food shopping wore
me out. I needed a long nap. I feel pretty ready for the coming week.

I took the full 6 weeks off that my short-term disability allowed. I
probably COULD'VE gone back at about 2 weeks (I have a desk job also), but
I figured I should take advantage of this opportunity to take some time
off. And I didn't get bored at all, I read a lot, and took long walks and
got exercise. I recommend taking as much time as you can afford to off!

I am a private therapist and I was back to seeing patients 10 days after my
lap proceedure. If I dont work, I dont get paid. I had a HUGE incentive
to get back to work. It was too soon butI was able to work part time and
take breaks as I needed them.
