I am 8 days post op... Same for me, and yes it is normal. There is a lot of
inflamation/swelling in your body and your body is fighting off the drugs
and the swelling so the fever is normal. If it were 102 and up I would call
the doc office. Your stomach is about the size of a golf ball, becasue of
the swelling. IT WILL become a little bigger in a few days IF YOU ARE
DRINKING THAT WATER you were told is so so so important. Take a drink every
5 minutes. Water helps in weight loss AND healing.

I too was having fevers that came on at night then went back down during
the day when they released me fromt he hospital the first time 5 days
postop. Two days later I had to return for a blood clot and some pnumonia
and still ran a low fever. The doctors were concerned that I had a rupture
and the fluids I was taking in were dumping out into my abdomoninal cavity
causing an infection. After several tests to see if I had a leak or excess
fluid they found nothing and didn't find the cause of the fever either.
They did have me on A LOT of antibiotics via I.V. to fight what ever
infection.
<p> Make sure you check with your doctors if you it gets higher.

I would keep a close eye on your incision. I was also running a fever when
I came home from the hospital and wasn't given any antibiotics. My incision
became red and inflamed. I went back to the doctor, and sure enough, I was
developing an infection. They gave me antibiotics and I was fine. Just keep
and eye on it or you could get really sick.
I'm not sure about the size of the RnY. I have the "micropouch"
and it is only 2-3 ounces. Good luck in the post op life! I am 3 months
out. Feel free to email me if you need someone to talk to!

Call your doctor..... at least get a call into the nurse. Any fever a few
days after surgery is cause for concern. Stop reading this and call you
doc!!! :) GOD BLESS!

A fever post op is NOT normal and does require investigation. I second the
motion for an immediate call.

I had a fever of 100 to 101 for about 2 weeks. DOn't worry about it. If it
gets too much higher then call your dr. Just keep drinking your water and
walking and you will be fine.

Hi, I had a temp for weeks after my surgery, while in the hospital the
highest it got was 102.7 I think, it would always go down quickly with
tylenol. I kept a low grade 100-100.5 fever for at least 3 weeks after
surgery. It would come back every nite without fail. I took tylenol for
it, during the day my temp was pretty much normal but would start creeping
up in the evening. My surgeon's office said a low grade temp like that is
normal for some, best to double check, I never did have an infection, was
just my body's way of healing/recovering from such a major surgery.
