Question:
HAS ANYONE EVER FELT SHAKY FROM NOT EATING ENOUGH?
I often feel shaky from time to time when I really need to eat. It is weird how it only happens ocassionally, but if you are not eating even 1/2 as much as you used to, don't you ever get the shakes or dizzy? — Michele B. (posted on March 4, 2003)

Hi Michele,
I do get shaky if I do not eat when supposed to during the day. I think
it's because we eat so little as it is our body reminds us that we need to
eat so we can function. I just try to eat when I am scheduled too=)

Feeling shaky can also be a sign of hypoglycemia..and sometimes a little
bit of juice can help..I have hypoglycemia so I know all too well about the
shakiness..i usually feel lightheaded, shaky and just out of sorts..good
luck!

Yes, it is hypoglycemia. Are you eating often enough? Also, does this
happen following eating carbs instead of protein? Example, maybe you had
toast, grits or a biscuit for breakfast with no protein, and you find you
get shaky an hour or two after that. That is a perfect example of
hypoglycemia. You need to eat more protein, less carbs and eat more often.
I hope that helps you. Each time it happens, pay attention to what you
ate the last time you ate.

It's funny you mentioned that, b/c I feel shaky and weak right now. And I
just ate protein 1/2 hour ago. I work out 4-5 times a week, so usually I
need a protein drink or even carbs to make me feel better. But today, I
haven't even went to the gym yet and just ate, so I don't know what it is!
But def. can be from not eating enough. Although I think I do, I suually
get 1100-1200 calories a day, so who knows. Hope you feel better- goodluck!

The other morning, I had 2 hard boiled eggs for breakfast and an hour
later, I was so shaky and light headed, I had to leave class and go get
junk food out of the machines. I wondered if I was going to make it to the
machines, I felt so weak. There had been several other times that I
skipped breakfast completely and that didn't happen. I thought it was
weird. I eat eggs for breakfast for protein and satiety value and so that
this doesn't happen, cause I am aware that it can happen with carbs. As
soon as I ate (sugar) I started feeling better. I thought it was strange.

For me I find it's when I've not had enough protein or my supplements. I'm
usually really good about it but I always need to reevaluate and that's
usually my downfall. I may have eaten protein but not enough and I need to
eat a little more.
