Hi, I have Aetna POS and I received my approval letter last week (after waiting 2 months....thought I'd lose my mind). I am 233lbs. I know that there are people that would love to be in the 230's....but that doesn't change the fact that i'mm 100 lbs MORE than I use to be. Its heavy, its painful, and its exhausting. NO MORE. I had people (some larger WLS people) scold me for seeking to have this surgery. Many were supportive but some weren't. No matter. YOU know how you feel. 100 lbs is 100lbs....its heavy no matter who's back you throw it on. Why wait until you're ANOTHER 100lbs overweight! I refuse to. Good luck to you. I'll say a prayer for you. As for me, I'm scheduled for Lap on March 11th. God Bless!!

I was 218 when I sought information on the Lap RNY. I also have BCBS PPO (I am in California). I submitted my papers to Alvarado Hospital on July 15 and was approved by the insurance on July 30. I had surgery two weeks later. On the morning of my srugery I weighed 211. I must have lost 8 pounds in the two weeks previous from nervous energy. I am now 6 months post-op and have lost 65 pounds. While that may not seem like a huge weight loss in comparrison to what you can read about here, it is significant for me (especially at 5'1") I have 25 more pounds to loose to be at goal. I do believe that all weight loss from surgery is proportionate to what one has to loose. I will say that I feel better than I have in years and am more active as well. My energy levels are great, I look and feel great and I would do this again in a heartbeat. Don't let anyone stop you if this is your desire.

I qualified for lap rny at 242 pounds with a bmi of barely 40. My comorbidities were almost the same as yours. I have hypothyroidism, severe Acid reflux and joint pain. I am now 10 weeks post op and down 47 pounds. And yes I would do it all over again. So don't get discouraged, you might be suprised at the outcome.
