hi! I am also 6 months post and I also get dizzy every time I get up. I try
to remember to do it slowly. If I do it slow, I am almost always OK. My doc
said it's probably because my blood pressure is lower than it has ever
been. Who knows. I do get all my fluids. I have noticed when I skip my
multi vitimin with iron, it seems to happen more frequently. Best of luck
to you! Peace, Stacy (285/197/160?)

Nadine,
I'm 9 months post op and still have dizzy spells, I drink tons of wate 90
ounces + a day.......
I'm pretty sure it's becuase the weight loss hasn't stablizied as of yet,
It hasn't caught up with us, or we may not be eating enough versus what we
burn off, via exercise and daily activities. I'm not sure, my doctor also
has no clue, I just watch myself really closley and always make sure I wear
my medical bracelet just in case I do pass out. I'm not sure if it ever
goes away, hope some other post op's that are farther allong post to clue
us in.

I too get dizzy spells and I get enough water. I am also 6 months out. In
fact, I was dizzy an entire day and could not get out of bed (a month ago).
I also take all my vitamins all the time. I THINK it may be the weight
loss not stable thing previously mentioned. My doc does not have an
answer. My labs come back okay.

I'm almost 10 months post-op and I still get dizzy spells. I drink plenty
of water, get plenty of sleep and I get B12 injections (which REALLY help
my energy level). I wish I knew when the dizzies will go away. I have to
be careful about getting up from lying down too quickly or I almost fall
over.

Nadine, the dizzy spells are most likely from low blood pressure, which is
not dangerous. It is nothing to worry about. It will stabilize when your
weight stabilizes. Just be sure you are always well hydrated. Dehydration
will result in low blood volume which is also measured as low blood
pressure.

I have been getting dizzy spells for a few months, I'm currently almost 9
months out, under goal. My doctor put me through all kinds of tests and
they finally decided it is from the rapid weight loss and low (for me)
blood pressure and that things will eventually stabalize. Don't worry
about it too much as long as the doctor is aware of it. Rise slowly, drink
plenty of fluids, and lay down if it gets to the point that you think you
will fall or pass out (I have done both). If it gets severe, there are
medications available. Oh, the condition is called Vasodepressor Syncope.

I too have these and have for the past 4 or 5 months. I am 17 mos post op
and my weight has been stable for a while. According to my doctor, it is
due to my low blood pressure. 88/60. Her suggestion was to drink more
fluids. Not just water but to add gatoraide to that as well. The extra
fluid and sodium raises and stablizes your blood pressure. There are many
things that can cause the dizziness. This was just the reason for mine.

I don't know if this applies to you, but if I take a potassium supplement,
I get terribly dizzy for a couple of days to where I stagger around, so I
don't do those anymore.

I have it happen frequently. It's low blood pressure. I had my blood
pressure checked today at the doctor's office and it was 100/61 which is
really HIGH for me!!

I'm 6 weeks post-op. At 3 weeks, I had lost 27 pounds. I didn't loose for
another couple of weeks. During that plateau I had dizzy spells. I guess
my body was trying to get use to the rapid weight loss.
I checked my blood pressure and it was ok. I had a B12 shot and it still
didn't go away.
I called the doctors office again and the nurse told me to drink some
Gatorade or some juice as it could be low blood sugar. After I had some
juice, the dizziness went away. That's been two weeks ago and the dizzy
spells have gone.
