artifcila sugars like asparthme and sucralose as fond in sugar free
popsicles and jello will cause gas and loose stools. many people think it
is the wls which causes this, but in fact i would bet many of htem never
ate much of the artifical chemiclas before hand and now they are and they
do in fact cause gas and diahrrea in many people. they aslo make me get
crmapos and a terrible headache. you might try avoiding things that contain
them andsee if it makes a difference. also carbs will cause gas. t hey do
not digest enough ibn your pouch, go into your intestines and ferment, this
causes gases to form as they move through. it hasto come out! ;o) the
abnormally smelly poo can be from this too, the fermintation of the poorly
digestged food. yumm, plesant thoughts huh>???? nothing smells worse
that rotten meat, and that is sort of what it is.

I looked at your profile to see what kind of surgery you had, but it
doesn't mention whether you had a proximal or a distal RNY. If you had a
distal, you have more intestines bypassed. If you are eating high fat
foods, this will cause diarrhea because the fat is not absorbed in the part
of the intestines that were bypassed. I know this because I had a DS
(duodenal switch). Every time I eat foods that are high in fat, I have
diarrhea for several days until it all clears out of my system. Even when I
stay away from fat, I have loose bms, although they are somewhat formed.
They always float on top of the water in the toilet because of the fat
content. So, if you had the distal RNY, that is probably why. Try staying
clear of fat, including mayonaise, butter, cheese, sour cream, marbled
meats, etc. Broil, bake or saute, but don't fry anything. Give that a try
for a couple of weeks and see what happens. Hope this helps. BTW, I noticed
you had your surgery the same day I had mine (Sept 4), but mine was one
year earlier.

Gale, I have constant chronic diarrhea. My surgeon has tried numerous kinds
of medication all to give little or no help in releiving it. I am now
taking about 30 pills a day and still have it at least 5-10 times a day. My
surgeon has basicly said "I DON"T KNOW", and the specialist
doesn't seem to know either. It does not matter what I eat or drink,
nothing helps. I'm not sure to what extent your diarrhea is but you are
definately not alone.

ME TOOO!!!! I found mine was carbs pure and simple. So no bread, pasta or
rice for me!!!!(unless I plan on staying home!!!) But really I limit my
carb intake back down to 35ish with veggies and fruit and am able to go
into public without worries.Good luck!!!
