Question:
Tatoos for belly button
Hi everyone, since I don't have a belly button anymore due to tt/hernia surgery anyone thought of having one tatooed? Just a thought, Susie — lostitall (posted on February 1, 2003)

I also don't have a belly button due to a hernia/TT - 5 years prior to my
WLS. I am also considering a tatoo once to goal. I have three ideas:
tatooing a pierced belly button or a daisy playing peek-a-boo or a sun
playing peek-a-boo with its rays. I am interested in hearing other
suggestions.

I think it is a great idea. Please take your time in picking out what you
want and make sure you make it special. It's not everyday that you can
pick what kinda belly button you have....lol.

how funny this came up i had thought about this myself. i need to loose 250
pounds if i do and have a tt i will not have a belly button either i
figured it would have to go along with the rest of the
skin. i would have a tatto of a belly button, pierced, i think that would
be rather unique!!! maybe with a huge dimond hanging on it! ;o)

I am getting a belt lipectomy in April. My DR asked if I wanted an ini or
outi He said that my old one would be gone (along my LAP scars)and he would
recreate it for me. I like the tatoo idea, maybe an yang and ying or a
chineese symbol Good Lux

while you can request a new belly button be made when the tt is done, it is
an added area where you'll need a drain, increases the cost of the surgery
(not a lot but some) and increases the risk of infection. Most just skip
it. I'm not planning to have one. Haven't had a pretty one in years
anyway so no great loss :>)

My surgeon gave me a brand new very beautiful belly button. I had a
beltectomy type surgery with 4 drains (front & back of each hip), NO
drain at my belly button. Can't even imagine that. I had no problem with
infections there. Its the same risk as the rest of your incisions.
Personally I feel that the point of plastic surgery is to restore a normal
appearance. And EVERYONE has a belly button. By the way, my surgeon gives
everyone a belly button and there were no extra costs involved.
