Question:
Can a few of you who were about my size send me your pics ?

I just want to show my husband how you have turned out after wls . he thinks i can do this by myself , i just need to exercise . He also thinks there will be alot of hanging skin . I told him probably not , depends ,and the more you have to lose , that might make the difference . He has seen me smaller . I am 5'1" and weigh about 240 at this time . My seminar and then consult are not until May . I know I need to be about 115 or so . I just want some pictures to show how great this surgery is .thanks .......    — patti G. I'm 9 months post-op and only 35 pounds from goal! I'm 5'2" and I started at 289 (Now at 165). My skin is doing pretty well, but I also work out 6 days a week. If you click on my name below this posting you will go to my profile where I have a link to my Picturetrail WLS picture journal. I will also be doing my monthly measurements next Sat so I will have a new picture up soon!

Hi Patti, I'd suggested you bring your husband to our support group (Staple Mates) and let him see for himself the success stories. Pictures are great, but seeing the people who have lost 100, 200 or even 300 lbs is AMAZING! We meet at the Methodist Hospital Conference Room (San Antonio) on the second Wednesday of each month. It is open to everyone whether you are considering the surgery, waiting to have the surgery or post-op. The first time I went, I saw three very "tiny" ladies there and thought they must be attending with someone as support. Hah! They were post-op and had lost to their goals. Seeing is believing! Good luck! Post-op 10/30/02 down 55 lbs.

Hi there. I started out at 276lbs on a 5'1" frame. In the past 9 1/2 months I've lost 112lbs and am now at 164. I'm hoping to get to around 130/135 so I'm only around 30lbs from goal. Believe me, I know that with as short as I am, my goal weight (according to all the charts lol) should be lower but you'll be surprised at how small you start looking at a higher weight. Someone told me its because your bones are so big from carrying around all your weight pre-op. Anyway, my pic is on my profile. It shows a weight loss of only 90 lbs then. (I haven't updated yet ;-) I unfortunately WILL need surgery for my panni....its terrible. Some don't though. One of the other posters are right though, you should attend a support group meeting. There are tons of people to see and talk to who can all show you pics. of before and are proud and happy to do so. Good luck to you!

hiya! i have pics on my site: http://www.geocities.com/katebme2002 i am 5' 1/4", pre op was 268lbs, goal was 135lbs, am now at 124lbs. i am fully clothed in all my pics (lol) but my skin "issues" are: i do have "bat wings" which aren't too bad, it doesn't stop me from wearing tank tops and my stomach has an "overhang" - doesn't look much different than from having the c-sections. i don't have enough extra skin anywhere that insurance would pay for reconstruction and now that i'm doing weight lifting, i'm noticing a tightening up on my upper inner thighs so i'm hoping the rest will follow suit. good luck! kate

I started at 5'1" and 230 lbs (22W/2-3X). I am now at 5'2" and 125-130 lbs (6P/Small)--yes, I got taller! My pix are at http://community.webshots.com/user/ctyst. I now look a lot different--dressing more trendy and supershort pixie haircut. The best thing is not how I look but how I feel and the fact that I am capable of doing things I never would have attempted before. I am taking my daughter skiing in a couple of weeks. You would have NEVER caught me doing that before. My husband wanted to go pre-WLS and I told him he'd better find one with a nice lodge because that was where I would be while he was out skiing! LOL
