Question:
I know this is a very off the wall question but I simply must know.

Does anyone have a problem with hanging skin around their vaginal area? Particularly the symphysis or mons pubis. I have seen a after pic of a lady and there was very noticeable skin hanging.    — Sylvia F. (posted on January 8, 2003)

I had my panniculectomy/brachioplasy last November, and that was an issue for me. Embarrassing as it was, I asked my plastic surgeon if he could "fix that" too. He didn't look the least bit bothered by my question and said that he routinely took a "nip and tuck" and possibly a little liposuction in that area so that everything would be in proportion after surgery. I couldn't be happier with my post-op results! However, I have heard of folks who had their tummy tucks and were very disappointed that their surgeon did absolutely nothing with that prominent fat pad in the pubic area. So, it's important that you be "brave" during your pre-op consultation with your surgeon and make sure that that area is covered in the plan for your reconstructive surgery :-) Best wishes!

Diana is so right. Everyone needs to discuss it with their surgeon so that they have realistic expectations. I had to have my "crotch lift" done in a seperate touch up surgery 6 months following my original tummy tuck. I was extremely self conscious about my mons pubis. With having a flat tummy it stuck out like a sore thumb, it was poofy, big and looked unnatural. They did lipo and removed the excess skin and made it a small natural looking crotch. I had it done in November and am thrilled with the result. Most people though can have that taken care of at the same time as their tummy tuck, and so much the better.

Sylvia, you are not alone! This area bothers me even more than the tummy sometimes I think. Now that it hangs (before it was just fat and poofy) it gets in the way of ummm, well, let's just say complete access to the privates. I'm definitely not going to be shy about discussing this when I go for a plastic surgery consult in the next year. - Anna LAP RNY 7/3/02 -104lbs.

Hi, I just had that area redone yesterday. I had the tt/hernia surgery in June of this year and kept waiting for that area to go down, Dr. said he would take care of it if it didn't go down. So I am recovering from lipo and a tuck there, and lipo in some other area's also. Ilove the results of the tt, flat at last !!!! Susie
