Question:
Jan 1, 2003 switched from Cigna PPO to BC/BS PPO of Mass.. How easy is it to deal?
with this new insurer and what are the stipulations ie. how long of a wait after 1st letter is sent out ect? Thanks — gramof3 (posted on January 6, 2003)

Hi. I have Cigna PPO, although I live in Michigan. But, they gave me the
runaround for about two months. My surgeon sent in the paperwork 3 times
before they "found" it. RIGHT! You have to talk to someone in
charge to get to the bottom of things. Once I did that, I was approved.
So if that happens to you, just keep calling and bugging them to death and
eventually it will work. Never give up, just keep calling!!!! Good Luck :)

I have the same insurance, they require a Psych. Evaluation (your surgeon
will refer you) and you need to see a dietician to prove that you know what
you should be eating. I started the whole process in March with my
appointments and had surgery in August. Once all the actual paperwork was
turned in to insurance, I was approved in about a week. At the time the
whole process felt like it was forever, but I think the whole thing was
needed to make this the best success. My boss on the other-hand did not
need any of these (her insurance only needed her to be 100+ lbs) and she
had a much harder time mentally giving up food. If you have any other
questions e-mail me. Good luck!
