Question:
Silastic ring blocked. Dr recommending Roux enY revision. Anyone have this problem ?

I had silastic ring vertical gastro plasty 4/98. Lost 150 pounds, have gained back about 30. I was hospitalized 2 weeks ago for total blockage. They opened me then with a balloon procedure, which was repeated yesturday. I think I was suffering in silence for a long time, as I was vomitting alot; they say ring was probably narrowing. Dr says ring must come out and I need Roux en Y, even though I am below the weight requirement. Anyone have this problem, and what were the weight loss results...I would love to loose another 60 pounds.    — Carol B. (posted on December 20, 2002)
