I had a VGB in May 2002 by Dr. Hamn. I have lost 85lbs and it was the best
decision I have ever made. He is a very compitant doctor with a lot of
experience. His pain management, pre-op testing, and post-op care were
great.

I went for my initial consult with Dr. Hamn and found him to be very cold
and matter of factual. He has done over 900 surgeries, but he only wanted
to do the band for me. I did not want the band. He was the only surgeon I
could find though that took my insurance. Fortunately, the surgeon that
ultimately did my RNY opened a new office in my PCP's unused half of
office. I saw him for my initial consult, got approved, had my tests done,
and had my surgery, faster than I got in for my initial consult with
Dr.Hamn. Ifelt my better with the new surgeon, and he surprised me with the
amount of care he showed. He was at the hospital at 6:00am the morning of
my surgery, and in my room at 11:00pm that night for the 2nd time that
night. He was the perfect choice for me. I don't think Dr. Hamn would have
done that. He wanted me to lose weight before he would even operate.Good
Luck in your sugery. I'm 2 weeks out and down 40 pds

I have been to both of them and did not like them. I went to dr Hamm first
and He told me what type of surgery he did and at the time I was just
starting out and after going to him i decide that I wanted the RNY and when
I called back, they told me that Dr Hamm did not do these (had already been
approved for the surgery and had a date) unless the band did not work. So
they wanted me to go to Dr Cribbins and after all of that I was not happy
with his office so I have changed Drs now.
