Question:
Will surgeons in Mexico accept Cigna PPO and Medicare?

If you have Cigna and Medicare, why do you want to go to Mexico? I
seriously doubt Cigna pays Mexican Drs. and I'm fairly sure Medicare will
not.
But, like I said, why would you want to?

I have the same question, why? I have Cigna PPO and used BTC in Texas, I
had already met my out of pocket expense limit for the year and paid
practically nothing for surgery. Cigna PPo is excellent insurance, don't
take a risk in Mexico.

I wouldnt think so. Most of these doctors want it paid on a Mastercard or
Visa card some maybe cash then that would be a problem carrying that much
cash while traveling. It depends on the doctor. But they do help you find a
hotel close to the hospital and Pick Up and Drop Off service back and
forth. But is it really worth it? I dont know but have thought about it
myself.Good luck in your journey!

My policy covers me only for emergency procedures out of the country. They
would never approve me for this procedure out of the county because it
would not be considered and emergency.

Medicare/medicaid won't pay because it is against the policy of the
government (both state and federal) to pay for what is considered a
non-emergency medical procedure outside of the country. I do know that
some insurances will give at least partial coverage for procedures that
aren't available in the US - if it is highly recommended by a state-side
physician. In this case, highly unlikely since it is readily available
here.

Claire, I don't think you'll find a doc in Mexico who'll accept anything
other than cash type payments. But don't be afraid of going there. My doc
is in Mexico (no insurance). He does an awesome job for a lot less than US
surgeons. His results are right up there with the best in the US. Minimal
scarring, excellent results. In fact his work is better than some I've
seen in the US. The facility for surgery was state of the art and
spotlessly clean. Why "risk" going to Mexico? Because we aren't
all wealthy and, at least my doc, does a damn good job! No matter what
happens for you Claire, best wishes!
