Post-ops do and should try for protein first. That's the most important
thing. There is a variety of opinions on how much carbs. Some people
swear by the Atkins guidelines - others are more tolerant. Carbs do
stimulate your appetite however. So you may want to start the day with
protein (e.g. an egg) instead of a bowl of Special K...JR

You might want to try Sommersize, Susan Summers. It works real well and not
quite so strict. It's an excellent program and still follows the no sugar,
no white flour but you can have brown rice, wheat bread, fruit ect. look it
up at the library they have her books.

I found my digestive system really settled down at about 3 months post op.
I wonder if it is because of the "smaller amount of food" we eat
that is giving our digestive system a well needed rest.

Well I had ibs pretty bad post op and I have hardly had any trouble since I
have had surgery I think some of the problem with IBS is overeating and
the types of food we overeat on. I have not had one episode since
surgery.
