Question:
Can somone please......

help me with some receipes or suggestions on pureed food. I am a very picky eater so I need some high protein suggestions. I will be eating 2 tablespoons of protein based food, 1 tablespoon of fruit/veg, and 1 tablespoon of starch 3x/day. Thanks a bunch!    — chatterbox213704 (posted on November 14, 2002)

If your doc makes you puree, then puree anything you like to eat. Eggs, cheese, chicken and turkey lunchmeats are a few things I tolerated early on.

I too have a severe issue with pureed meat. Just saying it is enough to gag me. I have raised this issue with my nutritionist and she said that the protien shakes during this period are perfectly acceptable. It is not so much the form just as long as you start getting it as soon as you can.(the protien that is). You can also get flavorless protien powders that you can add to purees that you CAN handle. good luck!

I had a tough time with pureed, and basically skipped that step and went right to soft foods. I ensured, though, that the soft foods were kind of pureed in my mouth before swallowing. However, if you want pureed, just puree any type of protein you like, like chili and cheese perhaps?

You probably will not be eating much fruits and vegatables in the begining. Just remember to get the protein in regardless. You can get potted meat and eat it IF you can! Personally, I hate that stuff. You can make chicken salad or tuna salad just puree the meat before you add the mayo. Hormel makes a chilli and beans that has about 7 grams of protein in 4 oz. Eggs are a great source of protein, my surgeon say to eat the egg substute but my stomach didnt like it! Still doesnt. Good luck!
