Question:
Absorbtion
I have been drinking the fruit flavored Isopure drinks that have 40 grams of protein in them. If I drink the drink over 3 to 4 hours, will I absorb all of the protein? Or do I need to drink some then eat something then drink more later? Just wondering... — Danielle B. (posted on November 5, 2002)

Why wouldn't you absorb the whole thing? I have heard that your body can
only absorb 30 grams at a time, but certainly spacing the drink out over 4
hours would work.

hiya...i was wondering the other day just how long is a
"sitting"...i'd heard that we can only absorb 30g protein in a
"sitting"
so a friend of mine who had wls and is active in our wls support group
found out from our surgeon that a "sitting" is approx. 2 hours so
if you drink your protein over the period of 4 hours you should be able to
absorb 60grams of protein.
i have coffee with protien mixed in, about 30g and drink it over about 2
hours...

Not sure, but I have heard you can only absorb about 30 grams at one time,
anything over that is just wasted. I have also heard that the protein in
those drinks "Go BAD" or lose the protein power after 30 mintues.
You may want to check with your doctor.
