Question:
Has anyone had breast implants post WLS?

One of the first places I'm losing the weight from is my chest. When I was young and thin, I barely wore an A cup. I'm thinking about checking out breast implants for when I also have my tummy tuck. Has anyone else done this? What was the cost?    — Jenni K. (posted on October 31, 2002)

As a matter of fact, I just got some quotes today. Here in Michigan, breast implants (without a breast lift) run about $5,000 to $5,500! I'm appealing my insurance denial in the hopes that they'll see that lifting them up with implants will take care of the rashes underneath the breasts.

Yes. Twice. The cost is sort of n/a. The first was batched with other stuff, and included a lift. The second involved blasting out the scar tissue, cleaning up the mess the first surgeon made (no, not listed on my profile), and putting in new & relift. If you want other info, please feel free to ask, but the cost doesn't apply as an "implant only" question. Would I do it again? Hmmm. I thought I wanted to be restored to original. Not sure I wanted to be so very AWARE, and limited. Probably not.

Please, please think long and hard before getting implants. I didn't get mine after surgery, I got my first one in 76 and it was replaced with the new kind in 91 and now I am thinking hard about getting it (yes 1) removed. Besides being lopsided the other way now, implants are not that comfortable. It is hard to lay on your stomach because they don't go anywhere. If I lean over something like the back of a couch to pick something up it is actually painful and you end up having to menuver your body to not put pressure there. They do not stay soft, and if you have a history of breast cancer in your family, think long and hard because they can mask cancer and if you think a manogram hurts, it is ten times worst with an implant and they take 3 times as many pictures. Not trying to be negative but having had an implant since 76, but that is one surgery I would not do over. My first one ruptured which is why it was removed and replaced.
